Tobolar is a State-Owned Enterprise of the RMI Government engaging in the processing of Crude Coconut Oil. Each Fiscal Year through the National Government subsidies, Tobolar purchase around 7,000 Metric tons of dried copra kernel (meat) from all around the Marshall Islands including Majuro Atoll and Kwajalein Atoll.
The dried coconuts are then transport to the Milling Plant located in Delap Dock, Majuro Atoll where they are grinded and processed into Crude Coconut Oil. The left-over crumbs of the crushed dried kernel come out as Copra Cake.
The Crude Coconut Oil and the Corpa Cake are then imported to interested buyers outside the RMI in bulk via 20 feet containers. Each year Tobolar export approximately 2,000 to 3,000 tons of Crude Coconut Oil. The Crude Coconut Oil is then used for cosmetics, food products and many more.
The Copra Cake on the other hand is perfect for pig’s feed and crops fertilization. Each year Tobolar produce and export 70 to 80 Tons of copra cake and are sold to internationally to interested vendors in Federated States of Micronesia, Vietnam, Thailand and Australia. Domestically, the cake i to local farmers and pig herders.
Today, Tobolar Copra Processing Authority employs over 100 employees and service over 3,000 copra farmers around the Marshall Islands.
